Registering on the Site (and Privacy)

It's free, easy, and fast to register. Just click on the Register link in the right-hand column. In that form, fill in the following:

Agreement to Abide by the Rules: check that you agree to abide by the rules (see below.)

The Rules: By clicking on that box, you agree that you will treat other users (and scales) with respect and courtesy, and that you will not post any prohibited content (see What Content Is Allowed.)

Your Real First and Last Name: Your privacy will be respected, but you must use your real name when you register. You need not display it on the site.

Your Model Train Background: There is no minimum level of experience required to register, but all the material on this site is visible without registering.

Username: Create your own user name, with no spaces. Your user name can be anything you want, as long as it doesn't have spaces, but it IS case sensitive.

Registration code: This is the number in the gray box above the form, to keep out spam bots.

Password and repeat Password: You can do this one two ways. You can either enter your own password twice, OR you can click on "Generate a password" at the bottom. If you click on Generate, it will show you the password it generates, AND it will insert that password in both password fields, overwriting anything you might already have put there. So do one or the other, but not both.

Once you have filled out the information, you will be sent an email with a link you will have to click on to open in your browser. That will verify that you gave us a working email address. Your account will be validated by one of the administrators in a very short time, after which you will be able to add new pages and edit existing one.

Privacy: A note about privacy is in order. The general Administrator of this site hates spam with a passion. Neither your email nor any other personal details will ever be given to another entity for any reason without your permission, unless you do something egregiously offensive, like trying to upload spam or a virus yourself — in which case you will be reported everywhere it is possible to report you.
